Dimensions: 25 mm x 25 mm individual chips.
Mounting System: Chips are typically mesh-mounted or paper-faced on sheets (usually 300 x 300 mm or 312 x 312 mm) to facilitate rapid and consistent installation.
Thickness: Generally, 4 mm to 6 mm, allowing for lightweight application on both pool walls and floors.
Material: Usually high-temperature vitrified porcelain or high-quality glass. Glass mosaics, in particular, are favored for their depth of color, translucency, and complete imperviousness to water.
Key Performance Characteristics
Water Absorption: Virtually zero (≤ 0.1\%). This is critical for preventing the "mosaic detachment" often seen in poorly specified installations.
Hygiene & Maintenance: The high density of the material prevents algae root penetration. Because the grout surface area is higher than with large format tiles, it is recommended to use epoxy-based grout for these installations to ensure the joints remain as chemically resistant as the tiles themselves.
Slip Resistance: While the chips are smooth, the high number of grout lines provides a subtle "micro-grip." However, for steep slopes or shallow steps, it is recommended to integrate specific "anti-skid" textured variants of the same color series.
