The Divisibility Rule

When sourcing jumbo rolls for items like POS thermal paper, the width is the most important factor. You must choose a width that is cleanly divisible by your target finished roll width (e.g., 80mm or 57mm), accounting for small losses (trims) caused by the slitting blades.

• Example: To produce 80mm finished rolls, a 795mm jumbo roll is ideal. It allows for 9 clean cuts (79mm wide, allowing 1mm for smooth feeding) with minimal leftover waste.

GSM (Basis Weight)

GSM dictates the quality, opacity, and "feel" of the paper.

• 48–55 GSM: Lightweight, cost-effective. Common for high-volume credit card/ATM receipts.

• 60–65 GSM: Mid-weight, standard for general POS and receipt printing.

• 70–80 GSM: Premium/Heavy-weight. Used for labels, tickets, or applications requiring durability and archival quality.
